Massage FAQs

If you have any queries, please feel free to ….

What do I need to know before my massage?

Your massage session will last about an hour, 15 mins and will include:

  • A brief health consultation.

  • The treatment, which is a Holistic Full Body Massage.

  • Aftercare notes.

For your massage you can wear shorts, trunks or swimming suite/bikini, briefs/ pants and bra.  You will be covered by towels at all times to protect your modesty.

I have all the equipment, (including towels), so you don’t need to worry about bringing or providing anything.  However, I would recommend that you have some drinking water for when your massage is complete.

What do I need to know after my massage?

Aftercare is essential! To gain the maximum benefit from your treatment, it is advised that you read this aftercare advice.

  • Drink a glass of water straight after your massage session and increase the amount of water you drink over the next few days.  This will help keep you hydrated and assists the elimination of toxins.

  • Reduce the intake of other toxins such as caffeine, (Tea, Coffee, and soft drinks containing caffeine). Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours and try to cut down on smoking.  All of these can have a dehydrating effect on the body  your heart rate.

  • Ensure that you take the time to relax after your massage.  Avoid any strenuous tasks or exercise.  Allow your body and mind time to rebalance and recover.

  • Eat a light meal and avoid heavy or spicy meals.  This is so the body can concentrate on natural healing process and encourage detoxification.

You may experience some reactions as your body begins to heal it's self and starts the detoxification process:

  • Frequent visits to the toilet

  • Runny nose and / or cough. Your sinuses may feel blocked

  • Slight rash as the skin rebalances

  • Headaches or feeling light headed

  • Perspiration, which is another means of your body to get rid of waste

  • Previous conditions may flare up and seem to get worse before they heal

  • Muscles may feel tired or achy, in which case a warm bath may help

  • Heightened emotions, a feeling that you want to cry or feel elated.  Try not to suppress these feelings

  • You may also find that you either sleep deeply or have difficulty getting to sleep and vivid dreams

These reactions are only temporary and should clear within 24 - 48 hours.  These are all positive signs that your body has responded to treatment and is detoxifying and re-balancing itself.

I feel nervous being on my own with a stranger (who is a male therapist). Can a friend sit in with me?

Yes! I completely understand that some people might feel unsure about a stranger coming into their home to carry out a massage, especially a male therapist. My aim is to make you feel relaxed and completely at ease, so that you enjoy your massage and reap the benefits of this holistic therapy. Please feel free to ask a friend to sit in on your massage session.
